Recipes

Most of my time is spent in the kitchen lately. When the weather is downright chilly it is a wonderful place to be! I find every excuse I can to have something baking in the oven just so I can warm my buns! I spent 2 weeks canning everything from apple pepper jelly to pureeing 4 pumpkins! We have a wonderful winter supply of applesauce, pepper jelly, apple cinnamon jelly, candied jalapenos, and plenty of other canned necessities.

I hope with this recipe page that I will be able to share recipes that past the Buckaroo Man test! Many of your farming and ranching men want a good hardy meal and in todays cooking world that is hard to come by! Everybody focuses on diet this, low fat that, and claims eating a banana is a good enough dessert! None of that passes with my man! After a good days work weather he has been working cows all day, putting shoes on a string of horses, or just spent the day in the leather shop-he desires a good hearty meal!

I will share the meals that meet his approval and hopefully you will enjoy them as well! I think we can learn from our previous ranch wives who are now well into there 90s because they ate potatoes, steak, real butter, real animal fat, real milk, plus whatever they could grow in their gardens. They are strong and healthy, my husbands grandmother is a perfect example.

Lets get back to eating and working like they did in the good old days! Many of my recipes are from my families cook book and many of them were altered during the depression era when people had to make do with what they had. Hope you enjoy what I have to share!

Too-da-loo!
